Interface

The whole layout in main interface is quite brief, no tab menus listing on interface. On the left side, there are three steps to guide you to finish your converting/ripping. The interface size of AOA DVD Ripper is fixed. That means we can’t adjust its size: enlarged or zoomed.

Due to trial version we try, on the bottom there are four buttons, including ”Order Now!”, “Register”, “Visit Our Website” “Exit”. I guess some of them will disappear after register, so if only “Exit” button on the bottom, does it not waste space? Exactly we think that some users may not get used to it. Why not move this button to the top right corner? Nevertheless, we do not reject this, it is acceptable!

Quality of output video
The quality of output video is very clear. We can see no difference in the quality between the original DVD and the one that your software made. AoA DVD Ripper converts DVD movies to any kind of file keeping same quality and takes up less room on hard drive.

Converting/ripping duration
Just as what said in the Help Document of AOA DVD Ripper: Converting DVD is always a time consuming job. AoA DVD Ripper does spend a quite long time to finish converting or ripping. It is slower than real time. We have taken some experiences to test how long it will take, and we will list our experience result in tables below:

Due to trial vision limitation of no more than 10 minutes per task, one of our testing task in 10 minutes and the other is less than ten minutes. In addition, our test environment is in Windows XP, 512 MB Memory. The converting time is depending on your system configuration, original file size and output format, etc. Please note that the higher resolution, the bigger file size. Please note that width and height must be a multiple of 16. The bigger bitrate, the better video quality and the bigger file size.

It is a quite long time to finish our experience. From tables above, we can see that it is really slower than the real playing time. We think the author know this problem too. Luckily, we found an option in “setting”: automatically shut down your PC when job finishes. So leave the AOA DVD Ripper converting or ripping DVDs when you are free from work, thereby freeing you up to do something else.

Effects for your PC working
To my surprise, AOA DVD Ripper occupies 95% CPU. Thought the occupying CPU waves all the time, the average occupying CPU is no less than 90%. During converting or ripping, the whole PC runs so slowly that other programs can’t work smoothly. Therefore, we have to stop tasks in hand and wait for converting process. So leave this AOA DVD Ripper converting or ripping DVDs when free yourself up to do something else.

Overall Review: AOA DVD Ripper is worth every penny. Even if it takes a long time to finish converting and take up a huge percent of CPU, the software author has made a good way to solve these problems. The excellent quality of output video has made this AOA DVD Ripper standing out from amount of DVD rippers, quite apart from features of batch converting and customizing each DVD setting.
